Must I be a United Church of Christ member to
be a resident?
No.
Evangelical Homes of Michigan welcomes individuals from of all faiths
as well as those who have no religious affiliation. Evangelical
Homes of Michigan was founded by a local congregation more than
100 years ago and is proud of its faith-based heritage. Clergy of
various faiths conduct a variety of religious services in each of
our facilities.
What
can I bring from home for a stay in a long-term care facility?
Rooms
in our long-term care facilities are furnished, however, you might
like to bring a portable television, small radio or clock radio.
We encourage residents to bring photographs and prints or paintings
to make their rooms more homelike. Please contact the facilitys
admissions coordinator for a complete list of items to bring to
the facility.
Will
my parent be allowed to choose his or her meals at your long-term
care facility?
Meals
at our long-term care facilities are planned by registered dietitians
and prepared by our experienced cooks. Dietary requirements for
residents are very closely monitored for quality and nutritional
content. Every effort is made to accommodate individual likes and
dislikes in preparing menus.
How
can I find out if my parent is eligible for governmental assistance
during a stay at your long-term care facility?
Evangelicals
long-term care facilities participate in both the Medicare and Medicaid
programs. Medicare, which is an insurance program, requires that
a resident be enrolled, have a recent three day hospital stay and
meet certain other medical criteria. Medicaid eligibility is primarily
based on financial status. The program is intended to fund those
residents without the financial means to pay for their care. A facility
admissions coordinator can provide additional details and guide
you in the process of applying for Medicaid benefits.
How
do I know if I am eligible to reside at the Brecon Village Independent
Living Apartments?
The
marketing representative and the assessment coordinator at Brecon
Village will do a pre-residency screening to determine eligibility.
There is an application that includes financial questions along
with questions pertaining to health status. The assessment coordinator
will visit a prospective resident to determine if he or she meets
clinical admission criteria.
Are
pets permitted?
Some pets are permitted at Brecon Village. Please contact the marketing representative
to ask further questions.
Pets that are properly groomed, healthy, and good with strangers
are permitted to visit in any of Evangelicals long-term
care facilities.
To
arrange for visits, please contact the Marketing & Outreach
Director at
Evangelical Home-Saline,
Evangelical Home-Port Huron or Evangelical
Home-Sterling Heights.
