Babs’ Underground Lounge is pleased to present a Wine Tasting Fundraiser to benefit Evangelical Homes of Michigan’s New Memory Support Center.   A new 33,000 square foot Memory Support Center is under construction and located in Saline within the Brecon Village Campus. The Memory Support Center will open in August 2009. The center encompass’ various levels of service in living spaces designed to support the client and their loved ones through the many stages of memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia.  The Memory Support Center program will have private suites residences and an adult day program that offers a safe and secure living environment utilizing innovative technologies and trained caregivers known as dementia specialists. The neighborhood surrounding the living spaces (known as households) will offer experiences for the client and their family members and friends that include an adult day center, a market and café, chapel and reflection room, gathering spaces for art and cultural experiences, a fitness center and spa, and kitchens designed to encourage the residents to assist with meal preparation in order to enhance the dining and living experience.

In addition, the Memory Support Center Library and Resource Center will be designed to stimulate the individual with memory loss and provide valuable resources and information for those seeking to know more about memory loss and care-giving. For individuals desiring to utilize the technologies and the connectedness of the resources available, but wish to live in a small cottage setting, the Memory Support Center will also have four homes adjacent to the center equipped to support an individual with memory loss who wishes to live with a loved one or a friend. Because of the innovation, the Memory Support Center’s “technology savvy homes” are often referred to by visitors and staff as Smart Cottages.
